🌿 Hardy in your zone

Their minimum zone is at or below yours: an ordinary winter should not kill them outdoors.

🏠 Too tender for your winter

Grow them in pots and bring them in before the first frost, or treat them as annuals.

      How it works

A USDA zone says one thing only: the average annual minimum temperature of a place. Each zone covers about 5.6 °C, from zone 1 below −45 °C to zone 13 above 15 °C. The encyclopedia records a zone range for the plants whose hardiness is documented; a plant goes in the outdoor list when the bottom of its range is at or below your zone. Type a temperature and the zone follows; pick a zone and the temperature range is shown.
