Is Plantalya really free?
Yes. Plant identification, care reminders and the Encyclopedia are free on iOS and Android. Plantalya Premium unlocks unlimited photo diagnoses, an offline pest library and the Botanist chat, but the daily basics never hit a paywall.
How accurate is the plant identification?
Every result shows a confidence score. When we're unsure we tell you, and we offer the top three candidates so you choose. Accuracy depends on the photo: a sharp, well-lit shot of leaves or flowers gives the best results.
Can the app tell me what is wrong with a sick plant?
Yes, the Diagnose tab covers the most common houseplant issues: pests (aphids, spider mites, scale…), diseases (root rot, leaf spot, powdery mildew…) and care symptoms (under-watering, sunburn, nutrient deficiency). You get a likely cause plus a step-by-step recovery plan.
How does Plantalya know when my plant needs water?
When you add a plant we ask for pot size, light exposure and your room temperature, then combine those with the species’ native climate to compute a custom interval. We also adjust automatically every season, and you can override anything; Plantalya learns your preferences over time.
Does Plantalya work without internet?
Your saved plants, care schedule and downloaded guides work fully offline. Identification + diagnosis need a connection because they run our latest model, we never strip it down for offline use, accuracy comes first.
